Activator Method in Monticello MN

Chiropractic Monticello MN Activator

The Activator Method used by our Monticello MN chiropractor uses a low force high velocity thrust that delivers an adjustment in 3-5 milliseconds whereas a manual adjust in 150-200 milliseconds. With this quick adjustment, it doesn't give your muscles time to react to the adjustment. With this method there is no twisting or cranking. As a patient you are able to leave the office feeling better and not sore from the adjustment.

The Activator Method has been one of the most researched chiropractic methods and the only instrument adjusting technique with clinical trials. The method has published hundreds of clinical trials and peer reviewed papers. The Activator Method has been around for 40 plus years. ACTIVATOR PROTOCOL in Monticello MN

Treatment consists of the patient laying face down on the bed while the doctor looks at his/her feet. The doctor will figure out if one leg is shorter than the other. When he brings the legs up the short leg will either get longer or it stays short. This will tell him what side needs to be adjusted. To figure out what area/segments needs to be adjusted the doctor will instruct the patient to go through different types of motions that will stress the muscle groups of certain segments. If you are misaligned in that area your leg will shorten.

FAQ's About the Activator Method

What is the difference between the Activator Methods and manual adjusting?

The main difference between the Activator Methods and Manual adjusting is that the Activator uses an instrument to adjust people. The instrument adjust in 1/300th of a sec which is too fast for your muscles to react and because of this speed you do not need to be twisted on and you do not hear the crack or pop.

Why are you looking at my feet?

When you have nerve interference, such as a joint restriction, the nerve does not function properly and you don't get the proper signal back to the Central Nervous System. When this happens this causes one of your legs to become shorter than the other.

What will the first visit consist of?

The moment that you arrive you will fill out paperwork explaining your past medical history and your present complaint. Once Dr. Barker sees you, he will take a brief history of your present complaint. He will then do an exam to gain more information about the problem at hand. Once he figures out what is giving you pain, he will explain to you what he thinks is the problem and how chiropractic care can help. If he feels chiropractic care will help, he will adjust you and use a therapy if it is necessary. After the treatment, he will put you on a plan to get you back to good health as soon as possible.

How often do I have to see a chiropractor?

That is a great question, and the quick answer is that it all depends on the person. Some people need to be treated every 3-6 weeks for their regular adjustments. If you have an injury you might need to be treated a couple times a week until symptoms subside.
